Danyal Al Ghul: Incorrect Quotes and Miscellaneous Thoughts

Incorrect quotes-style snippets specifically for my danyal al ghul au here (which i really need to come up with a unique au name for atp). Because I thought it'd be funny. And also some miscellaneous headcanons thrown into the mix. Some context for the au: - Danyal is 5 years older than Damian (so 10 and 15) - Danny faked his death when he was 10. Talia knows and helped him with it. - Jazz, Sam, and Tucker do not know he's an ex-assassin.

Lilo and Stitch is Danny's favorite Disney movie. He watched it when he was 11 with Jazz when she was attempting to connect with him, and by this point Danny was becoming receptive to her efforts. They had a movie marathon in the living room one night.

Safe to say? It resonated with his little 11 year old heart strongly, and he related very strongly with both Nani and Stitch. He got unexpectedly emotional and hid in his room for the rest of the night. Jazz felt really bad, but it had the intended (but kinda unexpected) effect of him trying to be nicer to her afterwards.

Funny contrast I realized between Danyal and Vlad that iirc I haven't pointed out yet is that imo, Danyal doesn't rely on his powers nearly half as much as canon Danny does. He falls back instinctually on his League training, and thus sometimes forgets to use his powers in battle. This was prevalent especially early on when he was still getting used to the whole 'halfa' thing.

He incorporates them more often after a year, but still for the most part relies on his own physical hand-to-hand combat. He trusts those skills much more than he does his powers. I'm not sure where he is on a technical level compared to canon, but just to stay safe I'll say he's similar in power skill as canon Danny. Perhaps a little more finessed than him because his League training would probably have him trying to figure out his powers as soon as possible.

But in summary? Danny is strong in hand-to-hand combat, weak in powerset.

Meanwhile Vlad is the opposite. I can't recall if he even knows hand-to-hand in canon, but it makes total sense to me that Vlad Masters wouldn't because he's so confident in his monetary influence and ghost abilities that he sees no need for it.

And he's kinda got some merit behind it. He's very powerful and has 20 years of experience to experiment and fine tune his powers. He's got bite to follow up his bark. He's perfected long-range combat and his ability to phase through walls makes it impossible to corner him, but if you can manage it, then one good hit could probably knock him on his ass.

So in summary, Vlad is strong in powerset, weak in hand-to-hand combat.

And it casts a good contrast between the two of them in that regard. Danny, as a fellow halfa, can follow Vlad when he phases through walls and is fast enough to land a hit on him. His league training as an assassin, albeit rusty, is still deep ingrained enough in him that he can hold up as a rather veritable threat against Vlad without needing his powers.

But Vlad can force Danny to use his powers more often through use of his own. The duplication is the first thing to come to mind: Danny's fast enough to dispel them on his own without powers, and smart enough that he could figure out who the real one is if given a few minute. But that's not always efficient enough.

Good foils for each other that way. Also Vlad's Plasmius design mimics Ra's juuust enough that he looks like Ra's knockoff loser second cousin no one talks about, which only fuels Danny's hatred.

😆i have no idea the context of that interaction, sounds like something inspired by Gojo and Nanami's terrible Hokkaido work adventure, but it did make me giggle bc you're absolutely correct

"Why is he like this?"

"Hmm?" you turned slowly. Satoru had kept you up last night. You stifled a yawn. You'd spent over six hours humoring him through losing spectacularly at final fantasy fifteen. Or at least you thought it was losing, could you lose that kind of game? Either way, you were pleasantly sleepy and the world felt washed in cotton.

So you thought Nanami had spoken, but maybe that was just many years of getting good at reading the gradation of Kento Nanami's Shades of Exasperation.

Nanami was staring at you and so was Satoru, with a kind of familiar hesitation that indicated he was awaiting some kind of reaction from one or both of you. So you decided that whether or not Nanami had spoken was probably irrelevant.

Your kouhai's expression now told you he was seriously wondering whether or not you'd been hit on the head when he wasn't looking. It wasn't like you'd complain about it if you had been.

"I'll go with you, Satoru," you said, equably, gazing up into your mate's covered eyes and falling back on something that occasionally satisfied whatever mood he was in, although efficacy tended to depend upon what exactly he wanted. Where were promising to go? No clue, but hopefully somewhere where you could get something to drink. As you'd grown older, staying awake all or most of the night seemed to make you more inclined to dehydration the next day.

A loud, whiny "Noo-ooo," left Satoru's lips. They were glossy with just a slightly darker shade of pink at the center like he'd freshly applied the lip tint you'd bought him last week. He'd said it was some limited edition thing that tasted, or at least smelled like it should taste, like umeshu.

"Of course you'd come--" Satoru had continued with making a scene, and Nanami looked like he was starting to grind his jaw a little, which was a bad habit both you and Shoko had been trying to break him of, "--unless you're the kind of alpha to leave me alone--".

You reached for Nanami's shoulder to prod him but your hand was snatched from the air and enfolded into Satoru's, a jealous tint to the air that you knew was all performative. Probably.

At least that had worked. Nanami looked like his mouth was about to drop open.

You wanted to point out that Satoru was already well on the way to crocodile tears by this point. "I thought the crying was going to be for Nanami," you teased with a tired, almost fond sigh.

A loud, near approximation of a whining, petulant sob left Satoru's pink lips. You wondered if there was actually any alcohol in the lip tint. Maybe the fumes were going to his head.

"Why are you ganging up on me!?" he exclaimed, ridiculous and provocative, and clearly angling to see where this was going.

Fine. Never let it be said that you didn't know how to go for a killing blow, even against Gojo Satoru,

"Well, you look awful pretty when you cry. I just thought I'd give you a chance to show it off," you said, reaching up to cup his cheek, the very image of an alpha placating an omega.

Nanami's palm hit his face with a near audible little smack. Whoops.

Satoru snickered as he drew you up the street, long legs eating up the distance so smooth it was almost like he was gliding. You followed along, trailing for a bit just to make sure Nanami was in fact, grudgingly, trudging along in Satoru's wake.

It occurred to you that you still didn't know where he thought you were going.

“Baby, it’s fixed!” you whine, tugging helplessly on Noah’s sleeve as he approaches the strongman game with a determined glint in his eyes. “Don’t waste your money on that crap. I’m serious, Noah!” With a grin, he shoves his free hand into his loose pocket and the distinct jingle of change lets you know his mind is already made up. Now that it’s in his sights, there’s no convincing him otherwise.

“Nah, I’ve been savin’ up for this,” Noah replies, handing the carnie a coin once he’s within reach. “I’m gonna win you something, alright?” All the prizes lined up are things he could easily buy elsewhere without having to compete for them, but you know your boyfriend, and you know he won’t pass up the opportunity to flaunt his skills on your behalf. “What’d you want, sweetheart? A bear?” He runs his eyes over the assorted stuffed animals. “Uh, a little dolly? C’mon, pick!”

“You haven’t even won yet!” you tease, and the carnie snorts, shrugging his shoulders when Noah glares in his direction. “Maybe you’re not strong enough.” You’re goading him now, letting a playful lilt enter your tone. If he wants any chance of scoring points, you’d have to rile his competitive nature first; a plan that already seemed to be working. His cheeks are flush, chest unconsciously puffing with pride.

“Yeah? Watch this.” Immediately, he pulls away, shoving his sleeves up to his elbows and revealing the lean muscle he’s gained from working at the lumber yard. You happily admire the definition of veins while Noah heaves the wooden mallet over his shoulder with a grunt before bringing it down on the lever with as much force as he can muster. 

Eyes wide, you watch as the puck quickly climbs the tower, nearing the bell before falling short. Your groan joins a chorus of others, people who’ve gathered around to watch and play next. “That’s no fair!” A few agreeing cheers and sounds come from behind you, but the carnie shakes his head.

“Just how the game is,” he explains, reaching for one of the smaller prizes. “Kid’s got a hell of a swing, though. Best I’ve seen all night!”

The compliment seems to soothe Noah’s bruised ego and he takes his reward - a small teddy bear - with a lopsided grin. He turns to face you, holding out the stuffed animal like it’s a diamond ring, his face suddenly so serious you could almost believe he actually was proposing. “You like it?”

“I love it.”

You wrap your arms around him instead, smushing the bear somewhere between your chests. Noah presses a chaste kiss to your cheek, his face growing warm. “I did say I’d win ya something,” he grumbles, pulling back enough to wrap his arm around you. It isn’t until the bumper cars come into view a few seconds later that you realize he’s already led you to the other side of the carnival.

“No more games?” you tease.

“The rides are better anyway!”

So for the plot...

Allie would be more like Chuuya in personality, while Dazai is the rich, talented kid growing up with wealthy parents—he projects that “gifted and privileged” vibe. 💎💼 Deep down, he does what needs to be done, but he's haunted by this melancholy feeling about his life. (Think: marrying someone else because Chuuya isn’t “good enough” — yeah, heavy stuff. 😭) The plot is also tragically homophobic, which adds some really complex and difficult layers to the story. But Dazai also sneaks some rebellious acts, like that iconic ferris wheel scene, just craving some control over his life. Honestly, I think Dazai's deeper need is for stability and control to feel grounded. okay i know im very very late to the party but i need to say that after listening to the entirety of tbs in the last month and a half and reading 2/3 of the books (sfp is arriving in a few days and i will be reading it then) i want to thank you for such an amazing experience. i had SO much fun and felt so many emotions while listening to all 7 seasons, and i have never felt more seen. especially when it comes to adam, who is actually me in a scary number of ways, from my love of shakespeare and baking and music to my gayness to my experiences with insecurity and loneliness and depression and sh, and a million more things. reading the infinite noise made me feel like you ripped every part of me out of my head and put me on the page to publish in the best way possible. your writing is going to stick with me for the rest of my life, and i cannot express how grateful i am to see myself represented in so many ways. so i guess what i'm saying is thank you, and you have touched my heart more than any other writer has in a very very long time, if ever. your work, and the work of everyone else who was part of the tbs universe, means so much to me. you have inspired me and helped me learn more about myself. i hope you have a lovely day :)

oh my gosh, you're gonna make me CRY! I am always over the moon to get these kinds of messages and I really love hearing that people relate to any of my characters, but especially Adam (and Sam of course) - Adam is so much of my teenage experience put into words and while I hate that anyone can relate to the rougher parts of that experience, it means so much to me when people do, because it means that neither you nor me are alone.
